We are pleased to announce the 2024 CMI2 Adaptive Experimentation Facility (AEF) High School Summer Internship opportunities. These full-time opportunities begin in late May and go through early August in Clay County.
CMI2’s work focuses on supporting our nation’s warfighters as an integral part of our “Innovation in the Dirt” philosophy, including building a one-of-a-kind, stand-alone military training and experimentation facility in Clay County. Our AEF interns collaborate and support our full-time on-site staff to make it happen.
For 2024, CMI2 will hire 14 interns for the AEF in three positions, double the number of hires we had for the summer of our inaugural internship program in 2023.
The available positions for 2024 include:
- Site Specialist – In Training (10 total)
- Makerspace Operator – In Training (2 total)
- Communications Coordinator – In Training (2 total)
Applicants for all positions should be self-starters, aged 16-18, currently enrolled in high school, a recent high school graduate, or possess a GED. Individuals with problem-solving skills and the ability to succeed in a fast-paced, dynamic environment are encouraged to apply.

About the CMI2 AEF Summer Internship Program
- All CMI2 internships are paid.
- The CMI2 AEF Summer Intern Program is on-site/in-person in Clay County, West Virginia.
- This internship is full-time, approximately 40 hours/week, Monday-Friday (occasional weekends), from the end of May through the beginning of August.
- Internships begin on Tuesday, May 28, 2024.
- Interns are invited to weekly presentations to hear from military and industry leaders.
