The CMI2 Ignite internship, powered by the ILLUME (Innovating, Learning, Leading, Uniting, Making, Experimenting) innovation-driven education and workforce training program, delivers immersive, hands-on learning experiences in the skilled trades at its Adaptive Experimentation Facility at Fort Andrew. Designed to prepare participants for high-demand careers across technical and industrial sectors, the program integrates cutting-edge instructional methods with real-world application.
Through ILLUME’s experiential learning model, CMI2 Ignite interns explore career pathways in Carpentry, Welding, Electrical, and Health Sciences, all grounded in a strong foundation of STEM principles. Each discipline emphasizes applied learning, bridging the gap between classroom instruction and on-the-job performance.
The Ignite internship program fosters collaboration, professional growth, and hands-on experience to help participants earn industry-recognized certifications, complete comprehensive safety training, and develop the practical skills needed to excel in today’s workforce, a key mission of ILLUME. Through programs focusing on STEM and skilled trades experiences, CMI2 strengthens the regional labor pipeline and contributes to broader economic development.
