Course Offerings

Adaptive Experimentation Facility - Course Offerings

Operating in remote or unpredictable environments requires specialized training, mental resilience, and the ability to adapt with limited resources. Whether responding to an emergency in rugged terrain, supporting operations in austere conditions, or leading backcountry expeditions, preparedness can be the difference between success and disaster.

CMI2 has created a series of course offerings to meet the unique needs of military units, first responders, and outdoor professionals. These hands-on training programs emphasize practical skills for operating in environments with minimal equipment, where improvisation, leadership, and critical decision-making are essential.

Benefits

CMI2 courses blend foundational search and rescue principles with field-proven techniques tailored for wilderness conditions—enabling participants to assess, respond, and recover with confidence, even under the harshest circumstances.

With a commitment to readiness and real-world application, CMI2’s Wilderness Search and Rescue training supports:

  • Military personnel preparing for remote deployments or operations.
  • First responders extend their capabilities beyond urban or suburban environments.
  • Outdoor leaders and enthusiasts seeking to enhance their safety and emergency response skills.

From basic survival to advanced casualty evacuation in the backcountry, CMI2’s training ensures that individuals and teams are mission-ready, no matter the environment.

Program Topics

Wilderness Search and Rescue

Be able to identify the environment, type of terrain, and associated hazards involved in a wilderness incident, given the environmental conditions.  Soldiers, First Responders, outdoor enthusiasts, and adventurists have limited access to equipment in the wilderness and austere environments, and their ability to improvise is crucial.

The CMI2 Wilderness Search and Rescue course will equip participants with the skills and knowledge to effectively locate, treat, and evacuate lost or injured individuals in remote, challenging environments.

Individuals will be trained to the National Fire Protection (NFPA) 1006, Chapter 11, Wilderness Search and Rescue Technician Level.
