Building the Adaptive Experimentation Facility at Fort Andrew
We announced just eight months ago that the CMI2 Adaptive Experimentation Facility (AEF) would be relocated to a larger facility in Clay County. What our team has accomplished in less than a year is incredible for our new Fort Andrew facility. The move followed increased customer demand for a larger footprint and additional specialized facility capabilities, further solidifying our continued commitment to investing in Clay County. Check out where we were and how far we’ve come!
LOOKING BACK
- In our blog Investing for the Long Haul, we detailed the acquisition of more than 200 acres in the Lizemores, WV, area for the permanent location of our Fort Andrew facility.
- As soon as the papers were signed, our team got to work on the building along Route 16, which will be the future home of our AEF Base Camp and Operations Center. The priority goal was to repurpose and refurbish the existing structure to house equipment, offices, and vehicles.
- Our Lizemores Progress Update blog on April 5 detailed the first month of activity, including the numbers to date. The clean-out effort at that point averaged 6.25 full dumpsters a week, every week, for a total of 25 in just four weeks.
- Just five weeks later, we shared in our Raise the Roof blog the top beam had been raised at the AEF Base Camp facility.
- On June 7, our expanded team, including a record number of hires for local interns, immediately impacted the build-out and completed the transition from the original site off of Leatherwood Road.
- Throughout the summer, the outstanding intern team maintained momentum to support the build-out of the Fort Andrew facility.
