Lizemores Progress Update

Apr. 5, 2024

The future of the CMI2 Adaptive Experimentation Facility at Fort Andrew in Clay County is taking shape.

Over the past four weeks, our Adaptive Experimentation Facility (AEF) team has worked hard to clean up the new-to-us existing structure for our location in Lizemores.

The property was purchased on March 4, and as soon as the paperwork was complete, our team went to work on the existing structure along Route 16, which will be the future home of our AEF Base Camp. The building will eventually house equipment, offices, and vehicles.

AEF’s move to Lizemores later this year allows us to continue hiring locally and positively impact the area.

Our work to date is due in no small part to many of our Clay County partners, including Jody Pierson and the team from Pierson Construction (who are managing the masonry work on the building) and Shane Morton of Morton Excavating (who is managing the demolition tasks and clearing).

  •  The clean-out effort has averaged 6.25 full dumpsters a week, every week, for a total of 25 since March 4.
  • The original roof has been 90% removed, and we will raise the new roof in about four weeks.
  • This week, we started clearing and grading the area around the building. We are hauling excess dirt and donating it to the Lizemores Fire Department.

In conjunction with these repurposing activities in Lizemores, our team is working to decommission the existing temporary location in the Fola-Bickmore area by July 2024.
