Week One – SUCCESS
The first week of the 2024 CMI2 Adaptive Experimentation Facility (AEF) at Fort Andrew Summer Internship Program made the most of a short work week when the program kicked off on May 28.
All 26 selected 2024 interns arrived early Tuesday morning, May 28, 2024, and immediately got to work.
The group, including local high school and college students, began working on facility upgrades at the new Lizemores AEF location, teardown and transfer for the original facility (Off Leatherwood Road), and general onboarding tasks throughout the week.

Hoyer in the House — The AEF interns enjoyed a visit and keynote remarks by Major General (Retired) James A. Hoyer as part of the new CMI2 “Friday Forum” series. Every Friday throughout the 2024 internship, CMI2 will host a dedicated session to provide additional learning opportunities to the students.
Gen. Hoyer focused on the principles of opportunity and responsibility and voiced the importance of the interns’ roles at the AEF this summer, noting, “Take the opportunity you’re given and be successful this summer. I want you to think about what you’re doing – your role is part of a bigger mission.”
